Laphroaig 18 was part of their core range until 2016 when it was discontinued in favor of Laphroaig (no age statement) Lore, (7 years if they stated age).
Color - Deep gold
Nose - Iodine, sweet vanilla pods, band-aids, granny smith apples, key limes, honey, barber's shop
Palate - Honey, lemon candies, hospitals, oily, fresh apples
Finish - Long - Bonfires, smoked oysters, honey, citrus, pears, vanilla
Overall - 8 - Fuck, this is good. The nose is complex, evolving and lovely. The palate and the finish has tons of Lahproaig character. The extra time in the bottle really helps balance the dram out. Unlike the super olds, 27, 32, it hasn't lost its peat, it has just smoothed it out. This dram is all about balance. Fruit, citrus, peat and sweetness all present, all balancing each other out. One of the few Laphroaig expressions worth buying over the 10 CS. This is worth picking up if your local has one sitting on the shelf.
