Review #291: Edradour 10yr Super Tuscan Single Cask 2006 Specs Selection

   Highland- 10 - NCA  - NCF -  $80 if I had to guess - 59.1%

Edradour is a highland distillery that is owned by Signatory. IB.  Their claim to fame is being the smallest distillery in Scotland.  They seem to be more into wine finished casks and that has been the majority of their bottlings I have had.  This one is Super Tuscan, which is a red blend of Merlot, Cab, and Syrah.  These really have run the gauntlet from great to terrible.  Lets see where this one lies.
Color - Burnt Umber
Nose - Malt, honey strawberries, leather, black currant - water brings out more strawberries and some floral nots
Palate -  Red fruit, oak, pinot noir, - Water just ramps all the fruit.  currents, strawberries, gerranriums
Finish - Medium - Red fruit, old oak, black currents and more oak - water beings the emphasis all on the red wine.
Overall - 5 -  The nosey on this scotch is very winey.  At first, this had a ton of bitter raw oak.  I let it sit an hour and that calmed it down.  There is just too much wine here to make it at all balanced.  It really tastes like somebody poured a teaspoon of redwine into a scotch bottle.  It is drinkable but not really that great.
