Review #289: Benromach 15
Speyside - 15 - NCA - NCF - $90 at Binny's - 43%
Benromach is a small distillery operating out of Speyside. They are currently owned by independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail. They have recently undergone an image change and recently released all new designed bottles but I do not believe that they changed the underlying expressions. Like many OBs, this is a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry.
Color - Tawny
Nose - Dried Fruits, citrus and honey at first dried apricots, buttercream, key lime, Palate - Apples, pencils, malt and hints of chocolate
Finish - Medium - Leather, bunt chocolate, orange peel, pepper, nutmeg

Overall - 6 - This tastes to me pretty close to your standard OB bourbon/sherry blend. Then it gets a little funky by the time it gets the finish and a bit heavier on the wood. It is a little thin in the mouth but coating on the end to make up for it. Overall, not a bad OB that might be worth keeping on hand for the smooth whisky guests.
