Review #273: 2008 Signatory Ledaig 11 Winebow

Island - 11- NCF - NCA - $90 - 60.1%

Tobermory is an island distillary on the Isle of Mull.  Ledaig is their peated line of scotch.  I don't personally believe there is a better value in Scotch than youngish (7-15) Ledaig IBs.  They are consistently good, have a ton of variation, and are always yummy.  I got this one as part of a bottle split, it is an ex-bourbon hogshead of peated goodness.
Color - Yellow Gold
Nose - Toasted marshmallows, estuary pools, raw cigar tobacco, chocolate, malt, pear, tar
Palate -  Pears, honey, brine, toffee, chocolate, tobacco, citrus
Finish - Medium - Toffee, pears, lapsang, smoked shellfish, citrus, lemon drops, leather
Overall - 8 -  This is so damn good.  The nose is lovely, balanced peated bouquet of smoke, brine, tobacco and pears and it just rolls through the whole dram.  The finish brings in some citrus and toffee to really take this to the next level.  This to me is how a balanced peated dram should be.
