Review #239: Dalwhinnie House Stark - Game of Thrones

Speyside - NAS - Chill-Filtered - e150 - $30 - 43%

Clynelish is a Highland malt that is owned by everybody's favorite conglomerate, Diageo.  In an effort to maximize cash flow, Diageo released a series of Game of Thrones themed bottles.  I have yet to have a Dalwhinnie so I am looking forward to my first one.

Color - Burnished
Nose -  Honey & pears, loads of orchard fruit, lemon grass, lavender and hay
Palate - Caramel, pears, honey
Finish - Medium short - Toffee, honey, pears
Overall - 6 - This was better than I expected.  It for sure falls in the "smooth whisky" category but it isn't bad. It isn't interesting, its pretty basic but it is drinkable.  Overall, not a bottle I would ever pick up or even be interesting in sampling, minus the marketing.  However, if I picked up a bottle, I would be fine drinking it.
