Review #220: Glenfarclas Family Cask 2004-2015 #2623
Glenfarclas has a range of single barrel vintages that they market as their Family Casks. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so to speak. This particular one is first fill Oroloso sherry butt in 2004 and bottled on Sept 8th, 2015
Color - Russet
Nose - Apricots, minced pie, baking spices, vanilla - Just tons of apricots
Palate - Apricots, nutmeg, sandlewood
Finish - Long - Apricots, cigar box, pepper, treacle, vanilla, baking spices
Overall - 6 - The nose whole dram is completely dominated by apricots. Full on sherry bomb, dried fruit, spice with some wood notes coming through. It is not complex, just straight sherry and farclas spice. This is a step above your average NAS sherry bomb, richer, bolder more sherry. I, personally, would not buy a bottle and would probably opt for a different or cheaper sherry bomb. All in all, an enjoyable but one note experience.
