Bourbon Review #22: Buffalo Trace Antique Collection Sazerac 18 Spring 2016
Buffalo Trace - 18 - Rye - 51R39C10M - Sample - 45%
This was distilled in 1998 using Minnesota Rye, Kentucky Corn and North Dakota malt. This is the first
Color - Auburn
Nose - All spice, vanilla, molasses, dryer sheets
Taste - Baking spices, cinnamon, caramel, underlying sweetness
Mouthfeel - Medium
Finish - Caramel, all spice, red hots
Finish Length - Medium
Overall - 3/7 - I found this to be a bit disappointing. It is simple, straight forward, and likable enough. However, it doesn't really stand out or get complex enough to justify its value. It is enjoyable, it grows on you as you drink but not really anything special. It is sweet, milder in rye spice, and enjoyable.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
