Review #161: Kilchoman Red Wine Cask
Color - Auburn
Nose - Big peat - burnt sticks, rock candy, cherry, fabric softener, vanilla
Palate - Cherry, match smoke, raspberry, vanilla, cream,
Finish - Medium - Bonfire smoke, cherry, vanilla, cough syrup (but not as a bad note)
Overall - 6 - This is really nice marrying of peat and red wine. This is probably a step down from a Longrow Red but a solid red wine and peat dram. The red wine and peat marry and none of them dominate the palate. It is balanced and pleasant. I will say, while this is nice, the cask strength I had last night was amazing. As a side note, this might be the most heavily peated Kilchoman I have had.
