Review #160: Kilchoman Single Red Wine Barrel, Cabernet Sauvignon [K&L Exclusive, Cask Strength] - 60.3%
Color - Tawny
Nose - Red fruit and peat, cherries, vanilla, rock candy, the peat started out sea influence but before I could pick it out moved to earthy and incense
Palate - Red cherries, peat funk, wine tannins, strawberry and rhubarb pie filling
Finish - Long - Lapsang, smoked shellfish, cherry, vanilla
Overall - 8 - This was great, one of the better red wine/peat marriages I have had. The nose was lovely. The wine fruit and tannins married perfectly with the peat keeping it in great balance. Of course, like anything I sample that I love, this is no longer available.
