Review #98: Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch 001
I have been making my way through the cask strength sherry bombs. So far the Glenfarclas has been my favorite followed closely by A'bunadh Batch 50.
Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch 001
Speyside - NAS - NAS - NCA - Sample ($90 at the local) - 58.8%
Color - Auburn
Nose - Stewed raisins, cherry, sponge cake, vanilla cola
Taste - Dried apricots, oranges, chocolate,
Finish - Medium Long - Cherry compote, figs, vanilla, toffee and spice
Overall - 6.5 - Maybe my nose was off as cherry and cola seem a little off for a sherry bomb, more like a red wine finish. This was nice change to the standard sherry bomb. I also got some cherry on the finish as well. I liked this, it is different enough to be distinct from the other sherry bombs. Water opened it up a lot but faded the berry notes.
Would I spend the extra $10 over farclas 105 for this or $20 more than Glengoyne CS? I am not sure, so I probably would stare at the three bottles on the shelf for 20 minutes trying to decide.
