Review #122: Old Hepburn's Choice Ledaig 8 Year Old 60.7

Old Hepburn's Choice Ledaig 8 Year Old 60.7

Island - 8 years old - NCF - NCA - Sample ($60 at the local) - 60.7%
Color - Yellow Gold
Nose - Whoa, some funk here. Iodine, smoked oysters, sea brine, honey - water mutes the peat leaving just brine and honey
Taste - Honey, sea spray, seashells - big mouth feel- water turns down the heat but doesn't change the palate much
Finish - Starts off big, falls off quickly but has a lingering feel - Bonfire embers, creme brule sugar, touch of heat - water brings out more sea peat, honey and ash
Overall - 7 - This is really impressive cask strength peat bomb that actually competes with Frog CS and Ugi. It is big oily, briny, and peaty. I love it. For $60 at K&L (assuming that this is the same bottle), this is a great value and a fun ride. I really enjoyed this and if I find myself at a K&L state soon, I will pick up a bottle.
