Review #116: Murray McDavid 2000 Caol Ila 8y Zinfandel Finish

Murray McDavid 2000 Caol Ila 8y Zinfandel Finish

Islay - 8 years old - NCF - e150 - $50 - 46%
Color - Chestnut
Nose - Vanilla, apples, smoke, a bit of floral, maybe lavender
Taste - Honey, spice, pepper, smoke, subtle fruit I can't pick out
Finish - Medium - Medium Cigar ash, syrup, pepper and salt
Overall - 7 - This is a better dram than I expected. The nose is nice and Light and then there is a sweetness and pepper the follows a pallet through the taste that's all tied together by the smoke. I was unsure of this dram but I would take this over the Caol Ila OB any day
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
