Review #47: Clynelish

Clynelish 14
I have been curious to try this one since it is a favorite of Compassbox blends. I have heard people call it waxy and it is owned by everybody's favorite Diageo.

Highland - 14 years old - Chill Filtered - Color added - Sample ($60 at the local) - 46%
Color - Burnished
Nose - Wax, cereal, apples, fabric softener
Taste - Raw oak, honey, toffee - thin bodied buy not flimsy
Finish - Short - a bitter note hits, with some oak and salt
Overall - 5 - The nose on this was interesting but it falls apart once it hits the tongue. The palate is a bit boring and uninteresting. This bitter note on the finish did not ruin the whisky for me but that probably is because the finish is short. I can see with the nose why this is a popular malt for blending.

Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
