Review #293: Kilkerran 8 CS Batch 1
Campbeltown - 8 - NCA - NCF - $80- 56.2%
Kilkerran is the brand name used by the Glengyle distillery. They use the floor maltings form Springbank to make their malt. This is their first batch of the cask strength 8 year old. This is all ex-bourbon. I bought this bottle years ago, stashed the bottle kill and just found it.
Color - Ripe Corn
Nose - Lemon zest, frosting, sweet apple, vanilla, nag champa, grapefruit, meringues Palate - Cereal, delicate lemon and vanilla, incense, general sweetness
Finish - Long- meringue, kindling smoke, black pepper, stone fruit lingers in the background

Overall - 8 - This is way better than I remember it being. The frosting/meringues give it this delightful richness throughout. The palate is incredibly soft for the ABV and welcoming. The finish long and pleasant. The lack of strong peat, is very different than I remember. I am guessing this just faded with age. I am really kicking myself for not taking any previous notes but I know when people wanted to swap samples, I had no problem shipping out samples of this. This was a surprisingly good dram and one that would have paid more dividends with more patience.
