Review #262: Old Perth 23: Morrison & Mackay - Done Blind

I sampled this dram blind.  The blind was labled "Leather Chair Must"

Color - Tawny
Nose - Apricots, caramel, stewed apples, more apricots, tobacco, hints of florals
Palate - Apricots, caramel, tobacco, almonds
Finish - Medium - Caramel, chocolate, tobacco, baking spices
Overall - 150 - This is yummy, not complex, at least I am not picking up complexity.  I get a lot of tobacco and caramel combined with apricots.  It is balanced and easy drinking.  I am guessing that this is an OB because it tastes like a blend of sherry/bourbon and low ABV.  I am going to go Arran 18, though I will put Speyside as the guess region due to style.
GuessSpeyside - 18 - NCF - NCA - $160 - 46%

Reveal: Old Perth 23: Morrison & Mackay

Blend - 23 - NCF- NCA - $150 - 44.9%

Holy shit!  I was pretty close on this one.  It is a blend of bourbon/sherry barrels, lower ABV and not young.  I am not familiar with the bottler but it was a nice easy drinking dram.  It would be a solid house bottle for guests to drink.  I probably wouldn't buy myself mainly because of the ABV but it was enjoyable.
