American Single Malt Review: Westland Peat Week

I sampled this dram blind.  It is called dockside shrimp crawler.  .

Color - Deep Copper
Nose - Estuary, honey, peaches, candied apple slices, peat is there - smoked shellfish, sea weed
Palate - Honey, peaches, citrus, rock candy
Finish - Medium - Vanilla, lemon, iodine, sea spray, bonfire doused with water
Overall -  - This is a nice peated dram.  I don't think it is southern Islay because it just isn't peated enough.  There is a lot of sea on this dram.  It is kind of what makes it interesting, without, it would be a little boring.  I think this is a youngish whisky, like 9 years, 55% percent.  I don't know the middle Islay's as well but I am going to say Bunhabhain but could be Caol Ila or Bowmore as well. This is comparable to Kilchoman cask strength but I dont think it is good.

Islay - 8 - NCF - NCA - $100 - 55%

Post reveal thoughts.  I have always thought that Westland was garbage.  This changed my mind a bit on that.  Not that I like it per se, but that this isn't a drain pour.  It is drinkable, I would be pleasantly surprised if I bought a bottle.  Having said that, I wouldn't buy a bottle but it is worth drinking.
