Review #261: r/scotch Wardhead 22 (Glenfiddich)

Speyside - 22- NCF - NCA - $110 - 54.7%

Wardhead is teaspooned Glenfiddich.  Teaspooning is when a teaspoon of whisky is added to a barrel of Scotch, which technically makes it a blend and can't be labelled as the original distillery.  This barrel was distilled in 1997 and bottled 22 years later.  This bottle was selected by r/Scotch mods.

Color - Amber
Nose - Honey and lemon zest, vanilla, porridge, candied orange, toffee, apple peels
Palate - Citrus, toffee, allspice, pepper, malt, cigar box
Finish - Medium - Lemon Popsicle, ginger, sandlewood, marshmallow, fades to malt and lemons
Overall - 6.5 - The nose on this was nice and expressive. It is all sweetness, lemons and malt.  Once it hits the palate, it there comes a big smack of spice and oak.  It isn't complex, it isn't simple, but it is enjoyable.  I really like it but it is just not quite there for me to buy a bottle.  A nice pick, just not entirely my speed.
