Review #218: 2000 Exclusive Malts Ardmore 15 year old Cask # 800231 from Refill ex Bourbon
Ardmore is most often used as the blending workhorse in Teachers Highland Cream. They have a forgettable OB line as well. However, it is their frustratingly inconsistent IBs that their juice can truly shine. This one is a refill ex-bourbon but with little other information, lets get to the juice.
Color - Pale Gold
Nose - Green tomatoes, lavender, malt, green apple peels, and some honey and lemon buried in there.
Palate - Malt, apple, pears, orange rind
Finish - Medium - Malt, extinguished match smoke, perfume, rind
Overall - 5 - This isn't my favorite Ardmore. It drank younger than its age statement and was too malt heavy to be balanced. It isn't complex, but it is enjoyable. I have had better Ardmore's at close to half the amount I spent on this. There is also this rind note that I get in it. Not bad per se, but it doesn't add anything to the experience.
