Review #214: Springbank 15 (Green Label)
Springbank standard release needs little introduction. They did a packaging change where the changed color from a primarily black label to a primarily green label. This is the newer green label.
Color - Burnished
Nose - Peat - like iodine and nag champa, vanilla, sea breeze, chocolate - the more I nose, the more chocolate comes through
Palate - Chocolate, stone fruit, citrus, cake
Finish - Medium - Brine, chocolate, figs, citrus, smoke, funk, there is a bitter note like aspirin pills or cork, not off putting but there.
Overall - 6 - This is right up where I would expect this dram to be. Funky, hard to review, fun, and challenging. The chocolate is pretty thick on this one, following from nose to finish. If I were to guess, I would guess is the standard springbank 30% Sherry and 70% Bourbon. I would rate this higher but I can't see myself buying this over the 12 Cask Strength.
