Review #151: Glenglassaugh Torfa
Glenglassaugh is a new old distillery. Mothballed for 22 years, this distillery reopened in 2008 and started making whisky trying to stay more traditional in their methods. Torfa is their peated line. This is one of the first non-mega brands that I ever bought. I enjoyed it enough that when it went on clearance I bought the last few bottles on the shelves. I found a bottle with one dram on it, and I am ready to give it ago.
Color - Pale straw
Nose - cereal, raw white fruit, peat smoke, fabric softener
Palate - Cereal, a touch of oak
Finish - Medium - Honey, peat smoke, cereal - Hot
Overall - 5 - This has been open for a year or two but I remember this being much better. It is very basic, not much character and obviously very young. I would try their juice as it gets a little more legs on it.
