Review #139: Ledaig Limited Release 18yr Small Batch Sherry
Island - 18 Year - NCF - NCA - Sample ($130 at the local if I had to guess) - 46.3%
Color - Burnished
Nose - Peat, smoked oysters, ocean brine, honey, vanilla, apricots, orange marmalade
Taste - Apricot jam, vanilla, clove, richness, sea shells
Finish - - Vanilla, treacle, nutmeg, pepper, stewed apples, smoked seawater
Overall - 5.5 - This is quite a lovely dram, sweet, funky and peaty. I think that the sherry finish was a little underwhelming here. Maybe a first fill sherry or more time in the sherry barrel would have brought the sherry out a little more to balance things out. Instead, the nose and finish was brine, sweatness, wood and peat with little sherry poking through.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
