Review #115: 1991 Cadenhead's 175th Anniversary Bruichladdich 25 year old Cask #3044

1991 Cadenhead's 175th Anniversary Bruichladdich 25 year old Cask # 3044 Bourbon Hogshead
Islay - 25 years old - NCF - NCA- $250 - 54%
Color - Ripe Corn
Nose - Cake frosting, custard, vanilla, sweet citrus, nutmeg
Taste - Frosting, vanilla, lemon sorbet, sea spray, pepper
Finish - Long - Rich Vanilla, lemon, custard, pepper, salt - it just comes through in waves as I salivate after swallowing
Overall - 6.5 - The word rich just defines this whisky. It is rich from start to finish, desert like but not particularly sweet. The spice and citrus rounds out the rich vanilla notes to bring this dram balance. This is really a great whisky but I cannot see myself spending the quarter grand on a bottle again. ok, half that since it was a bottle split.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
