Review #110: Jura superstition
Jura Superstition
I am not that excited for this dram as I suspect the best part of the whisky is the bottle. However, I will in with an open mind. I know that Jura used to put out a peated malt but switched to copying Speyside. I do believe that Jura has disco'd this and is launching all new line.
Island - 16- NCF - e150- $60 - 43% -
Color - Amber
Nose - I am really struggling with this one - bitter orange, sea spray, honey - still don't feel I captured it
Palate - Tangerine blended with orange, spice, ocean brine
Finish - Medium Short - Heat at first, then it fades away, spice, citrus - more on the grapefruit side - brine
Overall - 5.5 - Better than expect. There are some interesting flavors that I feel like I did a piss poor job of describing. This turned out to be a lot more interesting than I thought. While I don't think I would rush out and buy this, it wasn't the "smooth" whisky I was anticipating. Interesting dram, a little tart for my tastes but much more interesting than expected.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
