Bourbon/Rye Review #9: Four Roses OESV Lunds & Byerlys
Four Roses - 9 years - Bourbon - 75C/20R/5M - Sample ($65) - 56.6%
My last review was the OESV, which is the E Mashbill (20% rye) and the "V" yeast, which is the "Light Fruit" yeast.
Color - Caramel
Nose - Caramel, apples, creme brule sugar, butter scotch
Taste - Apples, caramel, cherry
Mouthfeel - Slightly thin
Finish - Some red fruit, pepper, butterscotch, rye spice
Finish Length - Medium
Overall - 5/7 - This is much better than I thought it would be it would be. Not heavy, but not light. Some bright red fruit balanced with caramel. I would for sure look out for this guy again.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
