Bourbon/Rye Review #6: Elijah Craig 11yr, 47% Andys store pick
Heaven Hill - 11 Years - Bourbon - 78C/10R/12M - Sample (~45) - 47%
Color - Chestnut
Nose - Musty maltiness, vanilla, anise, caramel, fresh Apple
Taste - Wood, caramel, vanilla, cherry, herbal
Mouthfeel - Medium mouthfeel
Finish - Musty maltiness, vanilla, corn, simple sugar, spice, dill, cereal
Finish Length - Medium
Overall - 5/7 - I really enjoyed this bourbon but I had real problems describing the flavors. There is the musty malt sort of flavor that is prominent on the nose and finish. I am doing an awful job describing this but oh well. This is the style of bourbon that I enjoy, not corny and sweet but a more restrained dram.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
