Bourbon/Rye Review #5: Boone County 12 Private Barrel

MGP - 12 Years - Bourbon - Mashbill unknown - Sample ($75)  - 58.2%

Color - Caramel
Nose - Corn, vanilla, simple sugar, honey
Taste - Corn, maple syrup, new oak, vanilla
Mouthfeel - Mediume mouthfeel
Finish - Corn, Tobacco, rye spice, caramel, simple syrup and a bit of heat
Finish Length - Medium
Overall - 3- This bourbon seems to be a bit of sugar bomb.  Besides some vanilla, there is not much going on to balance out this sweetness.  I added a few drops of water and it took the heat off the finish but also took away all but the sweet flavors present in this dram.  If a sugar bomb is your thing, this would be a nice one. Having said that, this is not my preferred style of bourbon.

Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
