Bourbon/Rye Review #2 - High West Campfire
Utah - 5 Years - American Whiskey - Corn/Rye/Malt - Sample ($70 at the local) - 46%
Color - Caramel
Nose - Vanilla, leather, kitchen cleaner flowers, sandlewood
Taste - Toffee, honey, citrus, corn sweetness
Mouthfeel - Medium
Finish - Rye spice, orange, tobacco
Finish Length - Medium
Overall - 1.5 - This is not my favorite. To be frank, I wanted some malt and smoke and this didn't really deliver on those. The nose had an astringent note like scented household cleaner that seemed to follow it through the dram. Having said that, besides the heavy rye spice at the end, it was a bit uninteresting.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
