Bourbon/Rye Review #11: Stagg Jr Batch 9
Buffalo Trace - 8-9 Years - Bourbon - BT Mashbill #1 - Sample ($75) - 65.95%
Color - Dark caramel
Nose - Vanilla, Honey, Corn, clove and mint, brown sugar, rock candy - I am getting a lot of sweet flabors without the nose being that sweet for bourbon
Taste - Vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, cherry
Mouthfeel - Big and coating
Finish - Orange zest, spice, caramel, vanilla and rye spice
Finish Length - Medium long
Overall - 6/7 - This was really good. It wasn't overly sweet or corny. The fruit notes balanced out the whiskey nicely. I might be just a BT #1 mashbill as this and Col EH Taylor are the two best bourbons I have had so far. If I could find it, I would pick up a bottle or three.
Rating system is price influenced as it is based on my shopping decisions when buying a bottle.
