Review # 91: 1992 Ardmore 18 Year Chieftains
1992 Ardmore 18 Year Chieftains
Ardmore is primarily used in blends, specifically Teacher's Highland Cream. I don't have much info on this bottling but it is clearly ex-bourbon.
Highland - 18 - NCF - NCA- Sample ( I would guess ~ $120 at the local) - 46%
Color - Yellow Gold
Nose - Rich apples, more than apples, this is fruit cocktail they used to serve in elementary school. Honey and mint.
Taste - Cream, spice - like Tom & Jerry seasoning, and sweetness
Finish - Medium - Honey, toffee, and cigar ash- is this peated?
Overall - 7.5 - This was nice and was a very different at each phase. How does it move from a fruit bomb on the nose, the spicy cream, to a seeming classic peated ex-bourbon at the end? This nose was just lovely. Rich fruits laced with honey and mint. The palate was lactic but wasn't enough to turn me off, which lactic often does. I am a big fan of this, well exceeded expectations. Great value fore money on this guy.
