Review #2: Royal Brackla 10 Year Old

Royal Brackla 10 Year Old

I saw this guy on sale so I decided to get a bottle. Reading the box it had a nice story about being the first whiskey to be royally appointed. It is aged in oak and then finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.

Speyside - Chill Filtered- Color Added- $50 (on sale for $40) - 40%

Color - Oloroso Sherry

Nose - Granny Smith Apples, honey and vegetables

Taste - Big fruit in here, apricot, fig with some spice hints. Though it is only 40%, it is not watery and has a good mouth feel to it.

Finish - Honey and not much else. Fairly short but not abrupt.

Overall - 5 - This seemed to be a pretty straightforward and uncomplex dram. While it is not a disappointment, it far from gets me excited. Based on this bottle, I don't think I would move up to an older expression.
