Review #21: Longrow Red 11 Year Port Finished
Longrow Red 11 Year Port Finished
Campbeltown- 11 Year- NCF - NCA - $13 at a bar - 51.8%
Color - Russet
Nose - Peat smoke, red fruit, grass, more red fruit. An extremely fruity nose.
Taste - First it is red fruit, cigar boxes and cellar must. The fruit is big on this one. There is a mustiness throughout that is not unpleasant.
Finish - Medium - Musty cherries tangled cigar smoke
Overall - This was my first exposure to wine finished scotch and I kept going back and forth if I thought it was amazing or boring. It had this musty red cherry that just dominated the palate but then was balanced out by the peat smoke. I really wished that I had more time with this and more then the meager serving I received. (I didn't even have enough to really exam the peat.) I am tempted to go back to the bar and give this guy another whirl. I will for sure be looking to try more coming out of Longrow.
Note - I will not be giving this a numbered rating. I don't feel that the serving was enough to fairly give it a rating
